After talking to several freelancers in various domains, I realized that the hardest task for them is: reach the clients they want to work for. Health care, project management, and accounting are sources of headaches, but they all have some clue about how to deal with them. But they don't know how to get onboard to their dreamed projects.

“I pitched all the time, I feel like all these hours wasted. Just sending, it is going into air. Like it doesn’t do anything. It’s just eating it. It’s so hard.”
— Kate, Photographer

One of my interviewees also mentions that the need for a freelancer photographer is different from a freelancer manager. After some research, I narrow down my user group:

  • Freelancers who work in the creative field, working on ACTUAL projects: illustrators, graphic designers, motion graphic designers, photographers, copywriters, art directors, etc.
  • They are either full-time or part-time.

And I started to build my first prototype:

It’s a Web Browser Extension that can recognize all the projects on the internet. People can tag their role in the database, and they can be searched out by anyone through this extension.

There are some of the benefits:

This idea has a promising future since it’s been approved by one of my target users during the interview. And it does not require extra effort from the users.

The weakest points are(there are some, inevitably):

I rarely know anything about how to make a web browser extension.

How to make the platform to be reliable?

How accurate can the AI recognize the project?

Let’s figure it out!
